How many baby wipes should you order?

Guessing how many wipes we should be ordering is tricky business, so we thought it might be helpful to provide a guide as there are a number of things to consider when deciding how many wipes to order! Luckily, Joonya has a highly customisable subscription offering to suit your usage. With our convenient subscription model, you can easily pause or cancel your subscription at any time with no risks - making it easy to find the flow that works for you!

With that in mind, let's jump into some key things you'll need to consider when doing the maths on how many wipes to order...

Storage availability

Some of us live in apartments with minimal storage space, while others have space to store ‘essentials’ and don’t mind ordering more. They can enjoy the bulk savings and stop worrying about running out, given the long shelf life of wipes allows for storage (usually a couple of years).

Wipes usage

Some of us like to really clean baby so they sparkle, while others are a little more, well, relaxed! Most of us use wipes to clean all sorts of other messes around the house too. Let’s face it, having babies around is messy stuff!

Another big factor in how many wipes we go through is the age of your baby. For each change for number ones, we use 1 or 2 wipes, while each change for a number two requires around 10 wipes or more. The skill of the wiper is yet another factor!

Newborns normally require 8-12 changes per day – let’s call it 10 on average. For every 10 changes, 3 are usually for number twos and 7 are normally number ones. Crunching the numbers gives us around half a pack of 80 wipes a day!

Older babies require 4 to 6 changes per day – again let’s settle with 5 for an average, with most being for number ones during the overnight sleep only, requiring much fewer wipes.

When combined with the wipes we use for cleaning up messes, we can safely assume a carton of 24 packs of 80 wipes would generally last 25-50 days for most newborns, while for older kids it could be 60-120 days and is much harder to predict! Most of us don’t want to be caught short, so for subscribers we recommend you choose the days between orders conservatively and adjust as needed once you develop a pattern : )
